Campus Safety has received information that a sexual predator, Rickey Allen Robbins, may be in Oregon. Robbins, who is pictured below with a physical description, is an escaped sex offender who sometimes visits college campuses and may pose as a professor. Robbins is known to use college libraries to view on line pornography, and he is a suspect in pending sex crimes out of state.
Rickey Ray Robbins was convicted in 1983 of a rape involving a University of Oregon female student at an off campus location. Since that time, Robbins has been in and out of custody numerous times. He was last released from the Oregon State Penitentiary in December of 2008, and he absconded at that time.
On April 3, Tim O’Dwyer spoke with Linn County (OR) Parole and Probation Officer Fawn Teague about Robbins. In short, Teague has no idea where Robbins is. In late February, Teague received a letter from Robbins that was postmarked in Eugene. In early March, Teague received unconfirmed information that he was in Portland in the company of a female. Although the Portland Police Bureau and the U.S. Marshal’s Office both have been following up leads, the Portland connection has not been substantiated.
Recently, Robbins’ DNA was recovered outside a Cornell University residence, where a female student reported that a man matching Robbins’ description entered her house and rubbed her leg while she slept.
We have no reason to suspect that Robbins has ever been on the Lewis & Clark campus and we urge the community to keep perspective and use good judgment. It is always important to be mindful of your surroundings and use care when interacting with strangers.
