Education Professor Zaher Wahab splits his time between Lewis & Clark and Afghanistan, devoting six months of service each year to the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education. He is dedicated to helping normalize conditions in Afghanistan, and he believes “quality, equal and universal education is the key to establishing peace, security, democracy, harmony, and a healthy, stable economy in Afghanistan.”

In the most recent blog post, Wahab describes the beginning of 1338, Afghanistan’s new year:

“There was a sharp increase in people calling in radio stations broadcasting various messages to, for and about missing/disappeared loved ones. For the vast majority of the ravaged nation, this was just another day—a real struggle to feed, house, warm, clothe and/or protect themselves and their families.”
