(Portland, Ore.)—Lewis & Clark College has welcomed John Wright back to its Board of Trustees. Wright is the founder and CEO of the Global Sage Group, a financial services executive search firm. His award-winning business has attracted international attention and earned him the chairmanship of the Japan Council of the Association of Executive Search Consultants.

Wright graduated in 1983 from Lewis & Clark with a Bachelor of Science in sociology and anthropology and received his master’s in print media from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. He began his career with the Wall Street Journal, eventually becoming a deputy editor and working in Hong Kong. Between 1985 and 1990, Wright covered the regime changes that took place in Afghanistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Indonesia and Myanmar, also known as Burma.

The roots of Wright’s professional connections with Asia originated during his time at Lewis & Clark, when he participated in a study abroad opportunity in Nepal. Inspired by that experience, Wright has built a successful transcontinental career spanning two decades and also leads a chapter of Lewis & Clark alumni in China. Wright’s previous board service ended in 2003.

Lewis & Clark’s Board of Trustees is responsible for the ongoing success of the institution. The board is empowered to appoint the institution’s president and make major financial and planning decisions. Trustees serve three-year terms, which are renewable.
