Dennis Chang Named Student Commencement Speaker
Fifteen years ago, Dennis Chang was graduating from MIT with a major in Chemical Engineering. His early academic experience led him to a very successful career in the high-tech industry. In 2006, Dennis decided to resign his position at Intel in order to be a stay-at-home dad for his son, Calvin. It was during this period of re-evaluation and self-assessment that teaching called his name. Dennis will address his fellow students at Commencement on June 7.
Strength and Grace
For Grace Gifford ’12, swimming as a child was more than a sport: it was a release from her daily life. Gifford is now a member of Lewis & Clark’s varsity swim team and is competing for a spot in the 2012 Paralympics.

Law Student asked to present at the Midwest Political Science Association
Current Law School student Stephen Raher will be presenting his paper entitled “Judicial Review of Legislative Procedure: Determining Who Determines the Rules of Proceedings” at the Midwest Political Science Association’s spring conference this April. Stephen’s interest in the topic comes from the 5 years he spent lobbying at the Colorado state legislature. Read his paper here.
Thru the Lenz Exhibit Comes to Graduate School
On October 2 from 4-6 pm, 10 Roosevelt High School students will showcase photographs depicting their daily lives. Thru the Lenz is a community photo project partnering high school students with Lewis & Clark graduate students to capture the community through pictures.

Student Commencement Speaker Named
Charlie Ahlquist, M.A.T. ’08, has been chosen as student commencement speaker. An experienced musician, he says of teaching, “I find joy every hour by educating my students about different cultures, our histories, our diversity, and the exhilaration and anguish of the human condition, through the gift of song.”

Her fifth-grade teacher believed she would grow up to solve the mystery of cold fusion. Now a junior majoring in physics and mathematics, this exceptional student is pursuing her scientific ambitions while exploring a range of other interests. Meet Rowena Held ‘08.
