Danb Kench Lewis & Clark Attracts Top Scholars and Teachers In Legal Analysis and Writing.

Our highly ranked Legal Analysis and Writing department has drawn national attention with its innovative Distinguished Visitor in Legal Writing project. Each year, the school invites a leading figure in Legal Analysis and Writing to teach a semester in our first year Law program. As well as teaching, the Visitor is actively engaged in scholarship and directly contributes to the life of the school. The program’s first Visitor, Ken Chestek of Indiana University, visited for the 2009 Spring Semester. Boston College’s Dan Barnett will be our second Visitor next fall. Robertbennett Alterweiner 2009 Law School Commencement Ceremony

This year’s Law School commencement speaker will be nationally known trial lawyer, Robert S. Bennett, described as one of the 100 most influential attorneys in America. Elirosenbaum Geraldtorres Upcoming Lectures by Eli Rosenbaum and Gerald Torres

Our Martin Luther King Jr Lecture on January 20 is titled “Transformative Thinking in the Domain of Civil Rights: President Obama and Extending the Vision of Dr. King” by leading expert in critical race theory, Professor Gerald Torres. Then on January 22 we are honored to have Eli Rosenbaum, Director of the Office of Special Investigations, Criminal Division in the Department of Justice, speak to the Portland community on “Pursuing Nazi War Criminals”. Wiener Alter Alter Wiener: The Story of a Holocaust Survivor

Mr. Wiener is one of the few Holocaust survivors still living in the Portland area. He shared his life story, a testimony to the evils of the Holocaust and the need to educate future generations, at the Law School on November 12th. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor are among the keynote speakers scheduled at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Federal Judicial Center, hosted by Lewis & Clark Law School in September. This landmark conference will feature an unparalleled array of jurists and scholars.
