Dean Klonoff’s “Lesson in Remembrance”
This December marks the 100th anniversary of the late Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal’s birth. After reading Wiesenthal’s powerful book The Sunflower, Dean Robert Klonoff embarked on an emotional journey to some of the key sites of the Holocaust and wrote about it for the Jewish Review. Klonoff previously served as an assistant to the solicitor general at the Department of Justice. In that capacity, he handled cases before the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of the Office of Special Investigations, which seeks to investigate and deport Nazi war criminals.
Alter Wiener: The Story of a Holocaust Survivor
Mr. Wiener is one of the few Holocaust survivors still living in the Portland area. He shared his life story, a testimony to the evils of the Holocaust and the need to educate future generations, at the Law School on November 12th. Genocide Prevention Initiative
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Google Earth have launched a joint multimedia effort to raise awareness about the crisis in Darfur. The highly acclaimed project is the brainchild of Michael Graham B.A. ‘06, who studied international affairs at Lewis & Clark. Read the story in the Washington Post.
