Hnba Strong showing from Lewis & Clark Alumni in Annual “Top Hispanic Lawyers Under 40″ Awards

The Hispanic National Bar Association announced its annual “Top Hispanic Lawyers Under 40“. Two of the seven named are from Oregon and both are Lewis & Clark Law School graduates- Peter Ricoy (‘05) and Jennifer Yruegas (‘99). These awards honor “lawyers who have demonstrated professional excellence, integrity, leadership and commitment to the Latino community.” Find out more about the awards here (PDF).

State-of-oregon Lewis & Clark Law Alumni are Attorney General’s Top Choices

Three out of five of Attorney General John Kroger’s picks for the Honors Program at the Oregon Department of Justice are Lewis & Clark Law School Alumni- Laura Cadiz (Current 3rd year student), Nate Carter (Summa cum laude 2007), and Michelle Smith (Magna cum laude, 2008). Honors Program graduates often go on to top leadership positions at the DoJ or other prominent public services.

Brian-farr Financial Therapy Eases Pain of Recession

Financial stress is one of the leading causes of marital conflict, and more and more families are facing this stress. The bond-trader-turned-counselor spoke to the Oregonian about financial communication, the golden age of consumerism, and what lies ahead for families facing tough times.

Kroger Law School Alumni Join Oregon Attorney General

Attorney General-elect John Kroger isn’t the only person from Lewis & Clark Law School who’ll be in Salem in 2009. He’s appointing Mary Williams J.D. ’90 as deputy attorney general and Brent Foster J.D. ’99 as overseer of the enforcement of environmental crimes. Schiliro Phil Lewis & Clark Law Grad Takes Key Congressional Role in Obama Administration

The Obama transition team has tapped Phil Schiliro ‘81 to be Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, reflecting a distinguished career as a senior Congressional staffer that spans more than 25 years. During his law school years, he was editor-in-chief of Lewis & Clark’s Environmental Law review. Read about his appointment.

Hubbardthumb Brotherly Love for African Sister School

Jeremiah Hubbard, MAT ‘04, was recently celebrated by Oregonian columnist Steve Duin for his work as the advisor of the Uganda Sister School Club at Southridge High School. The club has raised thousands of dollars for a science lab for their sister school, which Hubbard and five students traveled to see this summer.
