Kathryn Kucera

Hello, all! I’m Kathryn, a first-year student hailing from the golden hills on the central coast of California. I have yet to declare a major, but I am interested in Sociology/Anthropology and English. I live in the Visual and Performing Arts hall, Platt-West, conveniently located in the center of campus. Living in Platt-West, people often ask what “my art” is, but it’s a difficult question to answer- my whole life seems to be a mosaic of artistic interpretation! I enjoy singing and playing songs on the guitar, collage-ing, sewing and reworking vintage and salvaged clothing, drawing, writing poetry, and I have been dabbling in theater! When I am not art-ing, I enjoy bicycles, espresso in its many incarnations, listening to the “This American Life” podcast, getting lost in the famed Powell’s Books (located in downtown Portland), and collecting vinyl records. I brought my turntable to LC with me,which has led me down the many musical paths Portland has to offer: from the bottomless record stores in Pearl and Hawthorne, to the intimate venues frequented by most of the up-and-coming bands on the music scene. So far, I have seen Ratatat and Old Crow Medicine Show… and this is just the beginning! I hope you’ll join me in my adventures on campus and around Portland.kkucera@lclark.edu
